I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was excellent, with moist birds, and all the fixings.
We are celebrating the colors of the season, with the November meeting devoted to Yellow....Bring your yellow blends to the meeting to show off to everyone!
Our October 26, 2005, guild meeting was lead by Pam Murdock. We welcomed a new member, Donna. Treasurer Pam distributed the new T2T roster.
Will and Kate reported on their notes from the CNCH half yearly meeting. This meeting dealt mainly on the plans for the yearly CNCH conference to be held in Modesto next May 5-7, 2006.
There were book markers, post cards and booklets to share. In the cost saving mode of CNCH this year, they asked that all members with internet access to download the book describing the meeting, galleries, and speakers. Those who have no access will be the ones given the few printed booklets.
Please remember to check the CNCH web site to get the quarterly notes online only. There will be a walk in fee in Modesto of $5.00. There will be a chance to walk in and add classes, if any are open.. The hotel is offering rooms holding up to four people for $99. The Taylors were impressed with the relaxed, competent committee.
There is scholarship money from CNCH available for conference attendance, as well as Convergence attendance. Please apply by December 1, 2005.
Susan Maynard is the new CNCH editor. Pam offered to do a mass request for “Return to Sender” gallery, if you give her the money.
Vilija suggested entering our Guild’s long history of sheep ornaments in the California Fun gallery.
Kate passed the thank you notes from our various outings through the summer. Linda V. passed around the shawl created during the Deer Hill Ranch demo on October 16, 2005. Carolyn shared pictures of the Deer Hill event.
The upcoming events mentioned at this meeting were:
December 7, 2005 Holiday Festival 2005 at Pleasant Hill Center.
October 29,2005 Open House at Yolo “Wool In”
November 19, 2005 Craftswoman’s fair at Ft. Mason in San Francisco
The beautiful creations that expressed this month’s theme of “RED” were passed and described by our members.
The most prolific award went to Linda V. who showed us her color study in cotton dish towels done with various red warps and wefts. All articles and yarns were amazing.
Kate showed how she had used teasel heads to full her red toned shawl, done with some strands of fun fur.
Next month our color study will be on the color “YELLOW”.
Vilija has again offered her home for our December 10, 2005, holiday pot luck and ornament exchange. We have lots of cute sheep ornaments, both hand crafted and purchased, but don't wait until the day before to put those ornaments together.
The Yellow theme meeting will be November 30, after Thanksgiving.
