NEXT MEETING:
MAY 27, 2009, 7:30 PM at the Winslow Center

A PICTURE TOUR OF SCOTLAND
Some of our members have just gotten back from a very full, very interesting and very rewarding two week trip through Scotland. With the emphasis of the trip on fiber related crafts, both historical and contemporary, they have lots to show. You'll see not only the country side of beautiful Scotland, but also some of the very creative craftspeople they were fortunate enough to meet. Everyone who went, be sure to bring all your "goodies" for Show & Tell.

LAST MONTH'S MEETING proved very fortuitous for the coming year's planning. The theme for the upcoming year, which begins in August '09 is THE YEAR OF NATURAL FIBERS AND BLENDED FIBERS

Volunteers for next year's leaders:

Co-Chairs as President: Janet and Linnie: duties include room opening [being the key monitors], and liaison to Pleasant Hill Park and Rec.

Co-Chairs for Programs: Reba and Donna: duties include coordinating public events and classes/speakers

Refreshments: Mary Bishop: duties include maintaining a list of monthly goodie volunteers, reminder calls and arranging for fill ins if needed

Treasurer: Pam will continue

Liaison to newsletter/blogger: Linda B.

Newsletter/blogger: Vilija will continue

CNCH Liaison: still needed

UPCOMING IMPORTANT DATES
JUNE 6 - SPINNING AT THE WINERY

Scroll down a couple months to see all the info on this yearly event.
Sign up sheets for work were passed around at Aprils meeting and some spaces are still open, mainly more help is needed in setting up and maintaining the potluck area.

JULY 11, GUILD DYE DAY at Linnie's home
Discussions were held concerning what to do this year. Suggestions included using Earthhues brand natural dyes in "seal-a-meal bags" with skeins, and a pot of "instant indigo"

JULY 19 - ALAMEDA COUNTY FAIR FIBER TO SHAWL DAY
Not totally sure about this date as yet. Some suggestions are for our guild this year to have guild members there this year demonstrating spinning a balanced yarn using blended fibers and the use of plying.

REMEMBER, there are no formal meetings on our usual last Wednesday of the month in June and July at the Winslow Center. June is our spinning day at the Retzlaff Winery, and in July is our annual dye day at Linnie's.
